Caloxin 2A1 is a peptide plasma membrane Ca2+/mg2+-ATPase inhibitor (IC50 = 0.4 mm in erythrocyte leaky ghosts). It is selective for the plasma membrane Ca2+/mg2+-ATPase over the erythrocyte ghost mg2+- and Na+/K+-ATPases and the skeletal muscle sarcoplasmic reticulum Ca2+/mg2+-ATPase at 0.9 mm. Caloxin 2A1 (0.34 mm) induces relaxation in precontracted rat aortic rings, an effect that can be reversed by the nitric oxide synthase inhibitor L-NAME (Item No. ).
