Description:

Hydroxychloroquine sulfate is an autophagy inhibitor.

A lysosomotropic agent which inhibits autophagy and triggers apoptosis in a variety of cell types^1,2. Augments the anticancer activity of DNA-damaging chemotherapy³. Antiinflammatory activity. Decreases cell surface expression of TNFα receptors in U937 cells⁴. Has been used to treat alopecia successfully⁵. Clinically useful antimalaria agent. Cell permeable and active in vivo.

Research component for the novel coronavirus (COVID-19).Hydroxychloroquine have been found to be efficient on SARS-CoV-2 and reported to be efficient in Chinese COV-19 patients. It is evaluated that the role of hydroxychloroquine on respiratory viral loads. One study conducted by French, treatment of hydroxychloroquine with azithromycin was even more efficient for COV-19 elimination⁶.
