Cayman Temsirolimus

Rapamycin (Item No. ) is an immunosuppressant that specifically interacts with the cytosolic FK-binding protein 12 to form a complex which inhibits the mammalian target of rapamycin (mTOR) pathway by directly binding to mTOR Complex 1. Temsirolimus is a dihydroxymethyl propionic acid ester of rapamycin with improved solubility that specifically inhibits mTOR signaling with a potency similar to that of rapamycin. Treatment with temsirolimus leads to cell cycle arrest in the g₁ phase and also inhibition of tumor angiogenesis by reducing synthesis of VEGF.^, Temsirolimus demonstrates cytostatic activity in several xenograft models of human tumors in nude mice, including glioblastomas, prostate carcinoma, pancreatic, liver, and breast cancers, and medulloblastoma.^,,,
