CPCCOEt is a low affinity, selective, non-competitive antagonist of the metabotropic glutamate receptor subtype mGluR1b. It has been shown to inhibit glutamate-induced increases in intracellular calcium at human mGluR1b with an IC50 value of 6.5 µM while having no agonist or antagonist activity at mGluR2, -4a, -5a, -7b, and -8a at concentrations up to 100 µM.
