Naphazoline is a vasoconstrictor. In vivo, naphazoline (0.1 mg/kg, i.v.) decreases specific airway resistance and reverses intranasal blockage induced by U-46619 (Item No. ) or leukotriene D4 (LTD4; Item No. ) in guinea pigs. Formulations containing naphazoline have been used to treat allergic conjunctivitis and as nasal decongestants.
