Vector Biolabs The GATA family of transcription factors, including GATA-1, GATA-2, GATA-3, GATA-4, GATA-5 and GATA-6, bind the consensus DNA sequence 5-WGATAR-3. A related factor, OSP-1, also binds to this sequence. Members of the GATA family share a conserved zinc finger DNA-binding domain but differ in their patterns of expression. GATA1 plays an important role in erythroid development by regulating the switch of fetal hemoglobin to adult hemoglobin.
