Revvity Epidermal Growth Factor (EGF) is a 6.2 kDa protein ligand that binds with high affinity to the epidermal growth factor receptor. Initially EGF is expressed as pro-EGF and is later cleaved to its mature form by enzymes and released via exocytosis. EGF, through EGFR, has been observed to play a role in initiating cell growth, proliferation and differentiation. Revvity AlphaLISA technology allows the detection of molecules of interest in a no-wash, highly sensitive, quantitative assay. In an AlphaLISA assay, a biotinylated anti-analyte antibody binds to the Streptavidin-coated Donor beads while another anti-analyte antibody is conjugated to AlphaLISA Acceptor beads. In the presence of the analyte, the beads come into close proximity.
