Revvity Glucagon is a 29 amino acid peptide hormone produced by the pancreas. Glucagon generally functions as a counter-regulatory hormone opposing the actions of insulin to maintain appropriate levels of blood glucose. Normal human serum glucagon levels range from 50-200 pg/mL. The glucagon:insulin ratio controls the rate of gluconeogenesis and glycogenolysis, disruption of this ratio can have severe metabolic implications. Revvity AlphaLISA technology allows the detection of molecules of interest in a no- wash, highly sensitive, quantitative assay. In an AlphaLISA assay, a biotinylated anti-analyte antibody binds to the Streptavidin-coated Donor beads while another anti-analyte antibody is conjugated to AlphaLISA Acceptor beads. In the presence of the analyte, the beads come into close proximity.
