Revvity Fibroblast growth factor 23 (FGF23), a 32 kDa secreted protein, is a member of the FGF family. More specifically, it is a part of a subfamily that also includes FGF19 and FGF21. FGF23 is predominantly secreted by osteocytes and osteoblasts. The primary function is to regulate vitamin D metabolism and phosphate homeostasis. Secreted levels of FGF23 have been observed to go awry in certain tumor lines resulting in overproduction of FGF23 and hypophosphatemia. Revvity AlphaLISA technology allows the detection of molecules of interest in a no-wash, highly sensitive, quantitative assay. In an AlphaLISA assay, a biotinylated anti-analyte antibody binds to the Streptavidin-coated Donor beads while another anti-analyte antibody is conjugated to AlphaLISA Acceptor beads. In the presence of the analyte, the beads come into close proximity.
