Revvity D-dimer is a 200 kDa fragment of fibrinogen and is produced during clot lysis. Fibrinogen is synthesized by the liver and is one of the most abundant proteins in plasma. It has two identical subunits of three polypeptide chains (alpha, beta and gamma). In the coagulation process, fibrinogen is cleaved by thrombin to form the fibrin clot. Then the clot is dissolved through plasmin cleavage of fibrin and forms D-dimer. D-dimer is an important cardiovascular biomarker. It is widely used in diagnosis to exclude deep vein thrombosis (DVT) and pulmonary embolism. Revvity AlphaLISA technology allows the detection of molecules of interest in a no-wash, highly sensitive, quantitative assay. In an AlphaLISA assay, a biotinylated anti-analyte antibody binds to the Streptavidin-coated Donor beads while another anti-analyte antibody is conjugated to AlphaLISA Acceptor beads. In the presence of the analyte, the beads come into close proximity.
