Revvity AlphaLISA technology allows the detection of molecules of interest in buffer, cell culture media, serum and plasma in a highly sensitive, quantitative, reproducible and user-friendly mode. In an AlphaLISA assay, a Biotinylated Anti-Analyte Antibody binds to the Streptavidin-coated Alpha Donor beads, while another Anti-Analyte Antibody is conjugated to AlphaLISA Acceptor beads. In the presence of the analyte, the beads come into close proximity. Revvity N-terminal prohormone of brain natriuretic peptide (NT-proBNP) is a 76-amino acid sequence cleaved from the N-terminal end of brain natriuretic peptide. NT-proBNP is an inactive protein that is used for the screening for acute congestive heart failure. Serum and plasma levels of NT-proBNP varies between individuals and generally increase with age. The physiological role of NT-proBNP is not clear, while the function of BNP is to protect the cardiovascular system from volume overload by regulating salt and water homeostasis.
