Revvity Interleukin 12 p40 (IL12 p40) (also known as IL-12B, natural killer cell stimulatory factor 2, or cytotoxic lymphocyte maturation factor 2, p40) is a subunit of interleukin 12. It also serves as a subunit of Interleukin 23. This cytokine is involved in atopic diseases, asthma, eczema, rhinitis, and autoimmune diseases. IL12 appears to play a major role in auto-immune disease, in the resistance to bacterial and parasitic infections, in antiviral responses, and in the promotion of antitumor immunity. Increased plasma levels of IL12 p40 have been reported in certain neurological disorders and auto-immune diseases. Revvity AlphaLISA technology allows the detection of molecules of interest in a no-wash, highly sensitive, quantitative assay. In an AlphaLISA assay, a biotinylated anti-analyte antibody binds to the Streptavidin-coated Donor beads while another anti-analyte antibody is conjugated to AlphaLISA Acceptor beads. In the presence of the analyte, the beads come into close proximity.
