High-purity lithium sulfide is primarily used as a precursor in the synthesis of other lithium compounds. In chemical manufacturing, it acts as a precursor for lithium hydride, lithium borohydride, lithium amide, lithium thioacetate, lithium tetrafluoroborate, and others.
