Cryo-DMSO-F is a chemically defined DMSO-free cryopreservation medium. Despite its widespread use as a cryoprotectant in cell freezing, DMSO can be detrimental to cells due to its toxicity. Some cell types are more affected than others, but prolonged exposure to DMSO, particularly after thawing, can impact post-thaw cell viability as well as the overall functionality of the cells themselves. Using a DMSO-free solution can prevent this potential impact.
