Complement serum is prepared from pooled human plasma and lyophilized from the amount of serum indicated on the label.

Complement sera human has been used:

• to incubate DLD-1 or SW-620 cells to quantify C5a release
• in multiplex bead antibody-binding assay to assay C3d
• in complement-dependent cytotoxicity assay

Complement sera human has been used:

The activity of complement sera can be determined by hemolytic assays in vitro. [4]

Hemolytic titer (CH₅₀ units per mL) is determined by method of Kabat and Mayer. Actual titer given on label.
