β-glucuronidase activity was determined by the amount of phenolphthalein released from 0.01 M henolphthalein β-D-glucuronide. [1]

Phenolphthalein β-D-glucuronide has been used as a substrate for the detection of β-D-glucuronidase activity in fecal bacteria.[2][3][4]

Biochem/physiol Actions

Phenolphthalein β-D-glucuronide is a chromogenic substrate for β-glucuronidase enzyme and the resultant colored product of the reaction is measured at 552 nm.[5]
