In nature 1,2-Bis(2-Aminophenoxy)ethane-N,N,N′,N′-tetra acetic acid (BAPTA) is a main metabolic product of BAPTA -AM (BAPTA-tetra(actoxymethyl ester), a neuro protective agent in cerebral ischemia, in rats.[1]BAPTA is an intercellular Ca²⁺ chelator.[2]

Application

Used to study morphological and signaling events of Ca²⁺ deficiency.[2][3]
