Preparation Note
0.5 mg/mL. Please refer to guidance on suggested starting dilutions and/or titers per application and sample type.
Store at -10°C to -25°C. Handling Recommendations: Upon receipt and prior to removing the cap, centrifuge the vial and gently mix the solution. Aliquot into microcentrifuge tubes and store at -20°C. Avoid repeated freeze/thaw cycles, which may damage IgG and affect product performance.

Glycosphingolipids (GSLs) are a heterogeneous class of membrane glycolipids consisting of a ceramide backbone covalently linked to a glycan moiety and are involved in many cellular processes. Globo H (Fuc 1 2Galβ1 3GalNAcβ13Gal 14Galβ1 4Glc) is a carbohydrate structure, which is synthesized by specific glycosyltransferases, and shows enhanced expression in many human carcinomas. Globo H-ceramide (GHCer) is a glycosphingolipid and consists of a ceramide backbone with a carbohydrate chain that includes the Globo H, and serves as a critical tumor-associated carbohydrate antigen. It is predominantly expressed in various epithelial cancers, including breast, pancreatic, and colorectal cancers. GHCer is involved in cell signaling pathways that regulate tumor progression, immune evasion, and angiogenesis. Its expression is notably upregulated in malignant cells compared to normal tissues, making it a potential biomarker for cancer diagnosis and prognosis. Subcellularly, Globo H-ceramide localizes in lipid rafts and membrane microdomains, facilitating interactions with signaling molecules and receptors. Its involvement in disease is highlighted by its role in promoting cancer cell proliferation and metastasis, as well as its potential as a target for immunotherapeutic strategies aimed at enhancing anti-tumor immunity. This mAb VK-9 is suitable for multiple applications including western blotting, immunocytochemistry, immunoprecipitation, flow cytometry ELISA, and inhibition studies. It does not cross react with many related structures, such as galactosylgloboside, globoside, H type 1, H type 2 blood group structures or fucosyl-gangliotetraosyl ceramide, but reacts weakly with globo A ceramide.
