PrincipleThioglycollate and L-Cystine reduce the redox potential of the culture medium to create an anaerobic atmosphere. Additionally, these agents inactivate mercury and other heavy metal compounds. Agar and clear gelling agents further reduce the rapid diffusion of oxygen through the medium while offering a clear medium. Resazurin indicates the reduction potential. A color change from yellow to pink in the medium shows an increase in oxygen concentration. |
