Secreted alkaline phosphatase (SEAP) is commonly used as a reporter of gene expression. Compared to other conventional intracellular reporters such as chloramphenicol acetyltransferase (CAT) and firefly luciferase, SEAP has the advantage of being secreted from transfected cells into the culture medium.
