Caveolin-3 (UniProt: P56539; also known as M-caveolin) is encoded by the CAV3 gene (Gene ID: 859) in human. Caveolins are essential scaffolding proteins in caveolae membranes. Caveolon-3 is mostly involved in the formation and stabilization of caveolae. It forms a homooligomer. A hairpin-like structure integrates it into the lipid bilayer and the scaffolding domain interacts with various signaling molecules, playing a significant role in signal transduction, lipid regulation, and vesicular transport. Caveolin-3 is predominantly expressed in muscle tissues, including skeletal and cardiac muscles. Its expression is crucial for muscle cell function and integrity. Caveolin-3 has been linked to obesity development, glucose homeostasis, long QT syndrome, sudden infant death syndrome, various muscle-related diseases, including limb-girdle muscular dystrophy, rippling muscle disease, and certain cardiomyopathies. Quality Control Testing

Evaluated by Western Blotting in L6 cell lysate.

Western Blotting Analysis: A 1:1,000 dilution of this antibody detected Caveolin-3 in L6 cell lysate.

Tested Applications

Western Blotting Analysis: A 1:1,000 dilution from a representative lot detected Caveolin-3 in lysates from C2C12 cells and human skeletal muscle tissue.

Affinity Binding Assay: A representative lot of this antibody bound with Caveolin-3 peptide with at least ten thousand-fold (10,000X) higher affinity than with non-specific control peptide.

Immunohistochemistry (Paraffin) Analysis: A 1:1,000 dilution from a representative lot detected Caveolin-3 in human skeletal muscle tissue sections.

Clone 1L10 is a rabbit recombinant monoclonal antibody that detects Caveolin-3. It targets an epitope within 17 amino acids from the N-terminal cytoplasmic domain.

Purified recombinant rabbit monoclonal antibody IgG, lyophilized in PBS with 5% Trehalose, normal appearance a coarse or translucent resin. The PBS/trehalose components in the ZooMAb formulation can have the appearance of a semi-solid (bead like gel) after lyophilization. This is a normal phenomenon. Please follow the recommended reconstitution procedure in the data sheet to dissolve the semi-solid, bead-like, gel-appearing material. The resulting antibody solution is completely stable and functional as proven by full functional testing. Contains no biocide or preservatives, such as azide, or any animal by-products. Larger pack sizes provided as multiples of 25 µL.

Recommend storage of lyophilized product at 2-8°C; Before reconstitution, micro-centrifuge vials briefly to spin down material to bottom of the vial; Reconstitute each vial by adding 25 µL of filtered lab grade water or PBS; Reconstituted antibodies can be stored at 2-8°C, or -20°C for long term storage. Avoid repeated freeze-thaws.
