General description
Human iPSC-Derived Midbrain Dopaminergic Neurons. Required products (sold separately): BX-2200-100uL. Dopaminergic neurons are a subtype of neurons that release dopamine as their primary neurotransmitter. Important for various neurological functions including motor coordination and executive function, dopaminergic neurons are a critical part of the central nervous system (CNS). Dopaminergic neurons can be found in the midbrain, and have been a crucial model for the study of regenerative medicine and the development of novel therapeutics for and understand of Parkinson’s disease, Huntington’s disease, ADHD, addiction, and epilepsy. Primary neurotransmitter released: dopamine.
Application
Function: Dopaminergic neurons actively release and uptake dopamine, reflecting their functional maturity. They display both spontaneous and stimulus-evoked electrical activity, making them ideal for electrophysiological applications. Importantly, they are validated for use with microelectrode array (MEA) platforms, allowing researchers to track neuronal network behavior and evaluate how different compounds influence firing patterns.
Features and Benefits
Marker Expression: Fully differentiated Midbrain Dopaminergic Neurons consist of cells derived from human iPSCs that have been induced to neuroepithelial cells, patterned to midbrain floorplate progenitors and differentiated to midbrain dopaminergic neurons. The resulting cell populations contain 50% TH+ cells (a marker for dopaminergic cells).
