Our battery grade sodium nitrate is a high-purity, anhydrous compound used in material synthesis, for example in the synthesis of sodium-ion cathode materials. Our high-purity sodium nitrate is an essential precursor in the synthesis of sodium-ion cathode materials. It is commonly used in the preparation of layered oxides, both P-type and O-type, such as sodium cobalt oxide or nickel iron manganese oxide (NFM),[[1],[2]] In a typical sol-gel synthesis sodium nitrate is dissolved in water with transition metal nitrates and a chelating agent to form a gel. The gel is dried and then calcined to yield the desired sodium cathode material.
