Cyclin-dependent kinases 8 (CDK8) and its paralog, CDK19, are both commonly known as "Mediator Kinases," and are linked to developmental programming and cellular homeostasis. CDK8 and CDK19 are integrated into a 4-protein complex known as the Mediator kinase module. Reversibly, this module binds to the mediator, a protein complex consisting of 26 subunits that controls the expression of genes mediated by RNA Polymerase II. CDK8 is implicated in the development of various human diseases, including cancer.

The AlphaLISA SureFire Ultra Human and Mouse Total CDK8 Detection Kit is a sandwich immunoassay for the quantitative detection of total CDK8 in cellular lysates, using Alpha Technology.
