Pyruvate dehydrogenase E1 subunit alpha 1 (PDHA1) is an enzyme involved in the pyruvate dehydrogenase complex (PDC). PDC is a multi-enzyme complex of the mitochondria that provides a link between glycolysis and the Krebs cycle and plays an essential role in producing acetyl-CoA from glucose leading to ATP or energy production. The PDHA1 enzyme is regulated by phosphorylation and dephosphorylation. Diseases associated with PDHA1 include pyruvate dehydrogenase E1-alpha deficiency, X-linked Leigh syndrome, and numerous solid tumor cancers.

The AlphaLISA SureFire Ultra Human and Mouse Total PDHA1 Detection Kit is a sandwich immunoassay for the quantitative detection of total PDHA1 in cellular lysates, using Alpha Technology.
