B-cell lymphoma-extra large (BCL-XL) is a member of the BCL-2 protein family resulting in apoptosis inhibition or pro-survival function. Beclin 1, a key factor in autophagy regulation, interacts with BCL-XL. BCL-XL is also essential for the survival of neurons and is involved in protective roles in neuronal injuries. Numerous cancers and other diseases are associated with BCL-XL, including acute lymphoblastic leukemia, non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma, small cell lung cancer, breast cancer, gastric cancer, prostate cancer, and neurodegenerative disorders.

The AlphaLISA SureFire Human and Mouse Total BCL-XL Detection Kit is a sandwich immunoassay for the quantitative detection of total BCL-XL in cellular lysates, using Alpha Technology.
