NucleoSpin DNA Yeast enables efficient isolation of genomic DNA from a diverse array of yeast samples, yielding up to 20 µg of DNA per prep. In contrast with other extraction methods that involve chemical lysis or sample disruption with glass beads, NucleoSpin DNA Yeast employs corundum homogenization beads to enable more efficient sample lysis, resulting in a protocol that can be completed in 35 minutes. The kit has been confirmed to perform well with a variety of popular yeast strains, includingS. cerevisiae,S. pombe, andP. pastoris, and processing of additional sample types (e.g., fungal mycelia, bacterial spore suspensions, plant pollen) is also possible.

Mechanical lysis using MN Bead Tubes Type C provided the highest yields of all methods tested.
