NucleoProtect RNA stabilization solution allows for convenient long-term storage of animal cell and tissue samples for subsequent RNA isolation. NucleoProtect RNA is designed to permeate mammalian cells and tissues up to 5 mm in diameter and protect RNA from degradation prior to sample processing. Samples can be preserved at 4°C for up to one month or at or below −20°C for longer periods. NucleoProtect RNA is compatible with diverse downstream RNA purification methods, including NucleoSpin RNA kits, and provides comparable performance to alternative RNA stabilization reagents such as RNAlater. Following storage in NucleoProtect RNA, high-quality RNA with RIN values of 9 or 10 can be obtained from mammalian tissues and cells, respectively.

Reliable stabilization of RNA in samples stored at room temperature and 4°C, respectively, prior to RNA isolation.Using the NucleoSpin RNA Plus kit, RNA was isolated from cell culture (Panel A) and mouse tissue(Panel B) samples that were either untreated (non-stabilized) or stabilized using NucleoProtect RNA (MN) or competitor products (S = RNAlater; Z = DNA/RNA Shield). For each sample type and storage condition evaluated, NucleoProtect RNA provided as good or better RNA preservation than either of the competitor products.

Protection from freeze-thaw damage.RNA integrity in samples stabilized with NucleoProtect RNA is well-maintained even after 10 freeze-thaw cycles.

NucleoProtect RNA prevents RNA degradation during sample storage at –75°C.Using the NucleoSpin RNA Plus kit, RNA was purified from various tissue samples that were stored at –75°C for 3 months and either unstabilized or stabilized in NucleoProtect RNA (MN) or RNAlater (S). As demonstrated, NucleoProtect RNA effectively prevents degradation of RNA that can occur in unstabilized samples stored at –75°C.

NucleoProtect RNA preserves sample integrity during storage at 37°C.Using the NucleoSpin RNA Plus kit, RNA was purified from tissue samples that were stored for 1 day at either 4°C or 37°C in NucleoProtect RNA. Storage in NucleoProtect RNA effectively prevented degradation of RNA even at high ambient temperatures.
