Fischer’s medium was originally developed by Glen Fischer at the National Cancer Institute (Bethesda, MD), for serial propagation of cells from leukemic mice. Fischer’s medium supports clonal growth of cells – particularly lymphoblasts – from primary explants or cells already in culture.

Applications

Fischer’s medium also supports mammalian cell culture and murine hematopoietic cells.

Recommendation

Supplement with 1.125 g/L of sodium bicarbonate for increased buffering capability and cell performance
