| Background Information | Endothelial NOS (eNOS), also known as Nitric oxide synthase 3 (NOS3) or constitutive NOS (cNOS), is a nitric oxide synthase. It generates NO in blood vessels and is involved with regulating vascular function. A constitutive Ca2+ dependent NOS provides a basal release of NO. eNOS is associated with plasma membranes surrounding cells and the membranes of Golgi bodies within cells. |

| UniProt Summary | FUNCTION: SwissProt: P29474 # Produces nitric oxide (NO) which is implicated in vascular smooth muscle relaxation through a cGMP-mediated signal transduction pathway. No mediates vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF)-induced angiogenesis in coronary vessels and promotes blood clotting through the activation of platelets. COFACTOR: Heme group. & Binds 1 FAD. & Binds 1 FMN. & Metrahydrobiopterin (BH4). May stabilize the dimeric form of the enzyme. SIZE: 1203 amino acids; 133289 Da SUBUNIT: Homodimer. Interacts with NOSIP and NOSTRIN. SUBCELLULAR LOCATION: Cell membrane, caveola. Cytoplasm, cytoskeleton. Golgi apparatus. Note=Specifically associates with actin cytoskeleton in the G2 phase of the cell cycle; which is favored by interaction with NOSIP and results in a reduced enzymatic activity. TISSUE SPECIFICITY: Platelets, placenta, liver and kidney. SIMILARITY: SwissProt: P29474 ## Belongs to the NOS family. & Contains 1 flavodoxin-like domain. ... hide » see more » |

| Storage and Shipping Information | |
|---|---|
| Storage Conditions | Stable for 1 year at -20°C from date of receipt. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the vial prior to removing the cap. Handling Recommendations: Upon first thaw, and prior to removing the cap, centrifuge the vial and gently mix the solution. Aliquot into microcentrifuge tubes and store at -20°C. Avoid repeated freeze/thaw cycles, which may damage IgG and affect product performance. Note: Variabillity in freezer temperatures below -20°C may cause glycerol containing solutions to become frozen during storage. |
