| Description | Anti-Dishevelled-2 Antibody |
| Alternate Names |
|
| Background Information | DVL2 is a member of multigene family that also contains DVL1 and DVL3. The vertebrate dishevelled proteins have approximately 40% amino acid sequence similarity with Drosophila dsh. DVL2 encodes a 90-kD protein that undergoes posttranslational phosphorylation to form a 95-kD cytoplasmic protein. |

| Applications | |
|---|---|
| Application | Detect Dishevelled-2 using this Anti-Dishevelled-2 Antibody validated for use in WB, IH. |
| Key Applications |
|
| Application Notes | Western blot: 1:1,000 using ECL. The antibody reacts with a protein of ~95kDa. Faint reactivity was seen in the dvl-1 and dvl-3 HEK293 cell lysates suggesting there may be endogenous dvl-2 present. Immunohistochemistry: 1:1,000 using the avidin-biotin system. Dilute antibody in 50 mM PBS, pH 7.4 containing 1.5% sodium chloride and 1% normal animal serum (same species as the host of the secondary antibody). Optimal working dilutions must be determined by end user. |

|---|---|
| Immunogen | Synthetic peptide corresponding to amino acids 600-614 of human and mouse disheveiled-2 protein. |
| Host | Rabbit |
| Specificity | Disheveiled-2 protein (dvl-2). By Western blot the antibody shows no cross reactivity with recombinant disheveiled-1 (dvl-1) or disheveiled-3 (dvl-3) protein. Pre-adsorption of the antibody with the immunogen peptide completely abolishes its reactivity by Western blot against disheveiled-2 protein. |

| Entrez Gene Summary | This gene encodes a member of the dishevelled (dsh) protein family. The vertebrate dsh proteins have approximately 40% amino acid sequence similarity with Drosophila dsh. This gene encodes a 90-kD protein that undergoes posttranslational phosphorylation to form a 95-kD cytoplasmic protein, which may play a role in the signal transduction pathway mediated by multiple Wnt proteins. The mechanisms of dishevelled function in Wnt signaling are likely to be conserved among metazoans. |
