| Background Information | CUB domain-containing protein 1 (CDCP1) is also called Membrane glycoprotein gp140, Subtractive immunization M plus HEp3-associated 135 kDa protein (SIMA135), Transmembrane and associated with src kinases and CD_antigen 318. CDCP1 is part of the tetraspanin web involved in tumor progression and metastasis. CDCP1 may also be involved in cell adhesion, cell matrix association and regulation of anchorage versus migration or proliferation versus differentiation via phosphorylation status. CDCP1 is a possible marker for leukemia diagnosis, and for subsets of immature hematopoietic stem cell. CDCP1 is highly expressed in mitotic cells, skeletal muscle, colon, many human tumor cell lines, colorectal cancer, breast carcinoma and lung cancer. CDCP1 may also be found in cells phenotypically similar to mesenchymal stem cells and neural stem cells. |

| Molecular Weight | ~135 kDa and ~70 kDa observed. Uniprot describes 3 isoforms at 92 kDa, 72 kDa, and 38 kDa, due to alternative splicing. The full length and cleaved form of CDCP1 have been observed at ~135 kDa and ~70 kDa (Casar, B., et al. (2012). Oncogene 31(35):3924-3938.). Uncharacterized band(s) may be observed in some cell lysates. |
