Miltenyi Biotec Clone REA335 recognizes the human, mouse, and rat glial fibrillary acidic protein (GFAP), the main intermediate filament protein in mature astrocytes and an important component of the cytoskeleton in astrocytes during development. GFAP is expressed exclusively in astrocytes in the central nervous system. It has been shown to be involved in astrocyte functions, which are important during regeneration, synaptic plasticity, and reactive gliosis.
