Miltenyi Biotec Clone REA254 recognizes the CD137L antigen, a type II transmembrane glycoprotein belonging to the TNF superfamily, which is also known as 4-1BB ligand or tumor necrosis factor ligand superfamily member 9. CD137L is expressed on a variety of antigen-presenting cells, including dendritic cells (DCs), B cells, and macrophages as well as on activated T Lymphocytes. CD137L cross-links its receptor, CD137, which is expressed on activated T cells, and co-stimulates T cell activities. Signaling through interaction with CD137 by soluble CD137L has been shown to cause T cell–expansion, cytokine induction, and upregulation of antiapoptotic genes, and to prevent activation-induced cell death. In monocytes, macrophages, and DCs, CD137L signaling induces activation, migration, survival, and differentiation.
