Miltenyi Biotec Clone H194-112 recognizes the mouse CD26 antigen, a 220 kDa single-pass type II membrane protein also known as dipeptidyl peptidase 4 (Dpp4) or thymocyte-activating molecule (THAM). CD26 is a multifunctional glycoprotein expressed both as a soluble form in plasma and on the surface of several cell types, including epithelial and endothelial cells. In the immune system CD26 is expressed on thymocytes, activated T cells, B cells, NK cells, and macrophages. It has been involved in T cell costimulation, tumor suppression, and adenosine deaminase binding. In addition, CD26 is a serine protease belonging to a subgroup of prolyl oligopeptidases, whose members specifically cleave off N-terminal dipeptides from proteins having proline or alanine in amino acid position 2. The biological activity of several hormones and chemokines can be abolished by CD26 in vitro.
