Miltenyi Biotec Clone REA545 recognizes the human CD49d antigen, which belongs to the integrin alpha chain family. Integrins are heterodimeric integral membrane proteins composed of an alpha chain and a beta chain. CD49d, also known as the a4 integrin chain or VLA-4a chain, is a cell adhesion protein that is directly involved in mononuclear leukocyte trafficking. Dimerized with B7 integrin, the resulting a4B7 integrin binds VCAM-1 (CD106), MAdCAM-1, and fibronectin to facilitate the rolling of leukocytes along vascular epithelium.
