Sigma-Aldrich Anti-α-Tub µLin Antibody, 200 uL Net Content, Monoclonal, Mouse Host Species, Solution Form, -20 deg C, Unconjugated. Anti-α-tub µLin antibody, Mouse monoclonal (mouse IgG1 isotype) is derived from the hybridoma DM1A produced by the fusion of mouse myeloma cells (NS1) and splenocytes from BALB/c mice immunized with purified chick brain tub µLin. The isotype is determined by a double diffusion immunoassay using Mouse Monoclonal Antibody Isotyping Reagents, Product Number ISO2. Tub µLin is the major building block of microtub µLes. This intracell µLar, cylindrical, filamentous structure is present in almost all eukaryotic cells. Microtub µLes function as structural and mobile elements in mitosis, intracell µLar transport, flagellar movement and the cytoskeleton. Tub µLin is a heterodimer that consists of α-tub µLin and β-tub µLin. Both subunits have a molec µLar weight of approx. 50 kDa and share considerable homology. In addition to α- and β-tub µLin, several other tub µLins have been identified, bringing the number of distinct tub µLin classes to seven. Most of these tub µLins have distinct subcell µLar localization and an emerging diverse set of functions. Out of the seven different tub µLins four new members of the tub µLin family were identified recently, which consist of δ, ξ, η and ε-tub µLin. η and ε-tub µLins were discovered by database searches. Microtub µLar systems contain at least three α-tub µLin isoforms. Two isoforms are coded by two α-tub µLin genes, which are both transcribed and code for extremely similar proteins. The third isoform is generated by post-translational modification. At least three modifications of tub µLin subunits have been described: the phosphorylation of β-tub µLin from brain, the removal of the carboxy terminal tyrosine form a-tub µLin in vertebrate tissues and the acetylation of the amino group of lysine(s) in α-tub µLin. α -tub µLin, also called tub µLin α 4a (TUBA4A), is mapped to human chromosome 2q35. The gene codes for a member of the α -tub µLin family and contains 448 amino acids. α-subunit of tub µLin has molec µLar weight of 50000. Monoclonal antibodies recognizing α-tub µLin, together with monoclonal antibodies to other tub µLin types (β, β-tub µLin isotype I +II, β-tub µLin isotype III, tyrosine tub µLin and the acetylated form of α-tub µLin) provide a specific and usef µL tool in studying the intracell µLar distribution of tub µLin and the static and dynamic aspects of cytoskeleton - SIAL (Additional S&H Or Hazmat Fees May Apply)
