Background	RBM5 is an RNA binding protein that regulates alternative splicing through association with the spliceosome (1,2). First identified as a tumor suppressor gene, RBM5 interacts with U2AF65 in order to regulate many pro-apoptotic genes, such as Fas (3). RBM5 is notably deleted in many lung cancers, and also has been shown to be a key regulator in male germ cell pre-mRNA splicing (4-6).
