Miltenyi Biotec Clone REAL899 is an antibody fragment derived from the full Cytokeratin 5 antibody molecule. It displays no binding to Fc receptors. The recombinantly engineered antibody fragments are multimerized to form the REAdye_lease Complex to bind markers with high avidity. | Clone REAL899 recognizes the human Cytokeratin 5, belonging to the basic or neutral type II cytokeratins. Cytokeratins, which are found in almost all epithelial cells, are polypeptides with keratin-containing intermediate filaments, which ensure form stability and cohesiveness. Keratins play a critical role in mechanical stability and integrity of epithelial cells and tissues, have regulatory functions and are involved in intracellular signaling pathways. Cytokeratin 5 is found in the basal, the intermediate and the superficial cell layers of stratified and transitional epithelia, complex epithelia, and in mesothelial cells and mesothelioma, but not in simple epithelia and in non-epithelial cells.
