Miltenyi Biotec Clone REA225 recognizes mouse CD144, which is also known as cadherin 5 or vascular endothelial cadherin (VE-Cadherin). This calcium-dependent cell–cell adhesion glycoprotein is composed of five extracellular cadherin repeats, a transmembrane region and a highly conserved cytoplasmic tail. CD144 is a strictly endothelial specific adhesion molecule located at junctions between endothelial cells and is of vital importance for the maintenance and control of endothelial cell contacts. Mechanisms that regulate VE-cadherin–mediated adhesion are important for the control of vascular permeability and leukocyte extravasation.
