Miltenyi Biotec Clone REA1312 recognizes the human CD31 antigen, a 120–140 kDa single-chain transmembrane glycoprotein, which is also known as EndoCAM or PECAM1. CD31 is highly expressed on endothelial cells, especially at their juncture. It is also present on virtually all monocytes, platelets, granulocytes and lymphocyte subsets. During maturation of CD4+ T cells, the expression of CD31 changes: CD4+ recent thymic emigrants (RTEs) express CD31 in contrast to central naive T cells. | In histological tissue sections CD31 is mainly used for endothelial cells, futher more it is a marker for angiomas and angiosarcomas. CD31 plays a role in leukocyte migration, angiogenesis, and integrin activation.
