Miltenyi Biotec Clone REA1321 recognizes the human CD11b antigen (Mac-1 α; integrin αM chain), which is part of the CD11b/CD18 heterodimer (Mac-1 α, Mβ2 integrin), also known as the C3 complement receptor. It functions as a receptor for complement (C3bi), fibrinogen, or clotting factor X. In humans, CD11b is strongly expressed on myeloid cells. It is reported, that CD11b is able to control myeloid cell polarization and tumor growth. Furthermore, it induces cytotoxicity in ovarian cancer cells and is considered to be used as a therapeutic target. It is weakly expressed on natural killer (NK) cells and some activated lymphocytes as well as on microglia in the brain.
