Miltenyi Biotec Clone REA284 recognizes human CD158a (KIR2DL1), but not KIR2DL2, 2DL3, 2DL4, 2DL5, 2DS1, 2DS2, 2DS4, 3DL1, 3DL2, or 3DS1. CD158a is 58 kDa protein, also known as KIR2DL1. CD158a is a member of the family of killer cell immunoglobulin-like receptors (KIRs) comprising transmembrane glycoproteins expressed on NK cells and a subset of T cells. Many groups of KIRs exist including KIR3DL1-3, KIR3DS1, KIR2DL1-5, and KIR2DS1-5. The isoforms have either a short (S) or long (L) cytoplasmic domain which transduce either an activating or inhibitory signal, respectively.
