It is mainly detected in the extracellular compartment. SPARC has different functions. It plays a role in cell differentiation, proliferation and angiogenesis and is involved in tissue remodeling and wound repair. Expression of SPARC is detected in different tissues and organs and has been associated with tumor suppression.
