Miltenyi Biotec Clone REA248 recognizes the monocyte chemotactic protein 1 (MCP-1) antigen, a member of the beta (C-C) chemokine subfamily, which is also known as C-C motif chemokine 2 (CCL2) or monocyte chemotactic and activating factor (MCAF). MCP-1 is anchored in the plasma membrane of endothelial cells and is primarily secreted by monocytes, macrophages, and dendritic cells. Platelet-derived growth factor is a major inducer of the MCP-1 gene. MCP-1 recruits monocytes, memory T cells, and dendritic cells to the sites of inflammation produced by either tissue injury or infection.
