Miltenyi Biotec Clone REA483 recognizes the human integrin α9β1 antigen, a single-pass type I membrane protein which is also known as integrin alpha-RLC. Integrins are heterodimeric glycoprotein receptors and exist as non-covalently bound α and β subunits. The integrin α9β1 binds a number of extracellular matrix components like VCAM1, cytotactin, and osteopontin to mediate cell adhesion, migration, and tissue invasion. Although widely expressed in a variety of normal human cells including endothelium, different types of muscle cells, hepatocytes, and in the hematopoietic system, it is also expressed in cancer cells.
