Miltenyi Biotec Clone REA234 recognizes CD89, the human myeloid IgA Fc receptor. CD89 is a glycosylated transmembrane protein that binds both IgA subclasses (IgA1 and IgA2) and is closely related to the KIR and MIR proteins rather than to other human Fc receptors. CD89 itself lacks the canonical signal transduction domains, however it associates with the FcR γ-chain with an immunoreceptor tyrosine-based activation (ITAM) motif, which allows transduction of activation signal upon ligand binding. FcαRI alone mediates endocytosis and recyling of IgA.
