Miltenyi Biotec Clone REA481 recognizes an intracellular epitope of the human multidrug resistance–associated protein 1 (MRP1) antigen, a 190 kDa multi-pass membrane protein also known as ATP-binding cassette sub-family C member 1 (ABCC1) or leukotriene C(4) transporter. MRP1 was initially identified because of its ability to confer multidrug resistance in lung cancer cells. It plays a role in protecting certain tissues from xenobiotic insults and that it mediates the ATP-dependent transport of glutathione and glutathione conjugates, leukotriene C4, estradiol-17-beta-o-glucuronide, methotrexate, antiviral drugs, and other xenobiotics from the cytoplasm.
