Ethylenediamine is a linear aliphatic diamine, widely used as a building block in organic synthesis.[1][2] It readily forms heterocyclic imidazolidine derivatives, because of its bifunctional nature, having two amines.[3] Ethylenediamine is also utilized as a raw material for the synthesis of chelating agents, polymers, agrochemicals and pharmaceutical intermediates.[1][2][4][3]
Application
Ethylenediamine can be employed as:
- A reactant in the synthesis of water-swellable polyurethane urea gels by copolymerization.[5]
