General description
Carbon tetrachloride (CCl4) is a clear, colourless, volatile and very stable chlorinated hydrocarbon. It is widely used as a solvent for fats, varnishes, oils, lacquers, resins, and rubber waxes. It is also used as a dry-cleaning agent, as a refrigerant, and as a starting material in the manufacturing of organic compounds.[1]
Application
CCl4 may have been used as reference standard in colorimetric analysis to determine CCl4 in fatty liver sample.[2]
